In the past 8 days the Hershey Bears outscored the Norfolk Admirals 14-3 in 3 games and obviously won all 3 games. As nice as the wins are the last 2 came at a price. In Friday's game in Norfolk Andrew Joudrey left with a broken finger and is expected to be out 1-2 weeks. Also in the Friday game Malcolm MacMillan, who was just called up, was injured and will be having an MRI Monday on an injured ankle. And Tyler Sloan was also injured Friday and is suffering from concussion symptoms and is day-to-day.
In light of those injuries the Bears called up Stephen Werner, Steve Pinizzoto, and Grant McNeill from South Carolina. Werner ended up with an assist in the game last night.
In other news the injury to Ovechkin that I reported earlier this week was a cut to the left leg and he is fine. In fact he came back last night and scored 4 goals and had an assist as the Caps beat the Senators 8-6.

Another win against Norfolk
The Hershey Bears won their 4th straight against the Norfolk Admirals. After losing their first meeting this season 5-3 they have now won 5 in a row against the Tampa affiliate. This is not the same Norfolk team that made the playoffs last season however. Last year's team was affiliated with Chicago and this year they are with Tampa Bay. The top netminder for Norfolk is currently on recall to Tampa Bay and is playing great.
The Bears get Norfolk again tonight and hopefully will get the W.

Roster Move
Frederic Cassivi was called up to the Washington Capitals last night after backup goalie Brent Johnson went down with a knee injury. The rumor mill has Johnson out 2-4 weeks, probably closer to 4. The Hershey Bears called up Davis Parley from the South Carolina Stingrays. Daren Machesney will get the start in goal tonight but we could see Parley in net this weekend. Haven't heard anything about Ovechkin's injury as of yet.

Roster Move Possibilities
Not sure what is going to happen yet but some news to report to anyone who wants to listen.
From the Bears end:
Grant Potulny - day to day with concussion like symptoms - out for Friday
Jay Beagle - day to day with concussion - out for friday, more than likely weekend
Malcolm MacMillan - called up from Reading - will play friday
From the Caps end:
Quintin Laing - scratched tonight, Boyd Gordon is back - not on Caps roster, probably sent down to Bears
Brent Johnson - injured in Pittsburgh game, out a reported 2-4 weeks - could be a call-up for either Cassivi or maybe even Machesney??
Alexander Ovechkin - left game against Pittsburgh in third period and did not return - possible call up for Motzko or Bourque??
Lots of potential news coming tonight/tomorrow? Check back for updates.

Another loss to Sound Tigers
Still can't seem to beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on the road. The Bears have now played the Sound Tigers 3 times at home and 3 on the road and are 2-4 against them. The 2 wins came at home around Thanksgiving when the Bears were in the midst of a 5 game winning streak.
Part of the reason for the losing is Bridgeport left winger Jeff Tambellini. Tambellini has 15 goals 17 assists for the season. That's a full 27 games. Against the Bears in 6 games he has a remarkable 6 goals and 7 assists. That's over 2 points a game!! He is only averaging about .7 points a game against the rest of the league. He plays above and beyond himself against the Bears.
Next up for the Bears are the Norfolk Admirals on Friday and Saturday and the Phantoms on New Year's Eve. Should be able to win at least 2 of the 3.
