Bears at Rats tonight...Cops for KOPS tomorrow afternoon

The Bears kick off their 2nd straight 3 in 3 weekend tonight in Albany against the 3rd place River Rats. This will be the second meeting between the two teams with the Bears winning 4-1 in Hershey during October.

After tonight the Bears return home for games against Norfolk and Hartford.

But the big event of the weekend takes place at 1pm....the Cops for KOPS benefit hockey game. KOPS stands for 'Keep our Pipers Silent'. This event (the 4th annual) raises money for the children of police officers in Pennsylvania who were killed in the line of duty.

Previous years have raised about $50,000 in money that will be used to assist with education costs. In 2009 six officers were killed and they left behind 12 children.

For more on this years event you can find the flyer here and an article by WHTM here. For even more information including a list of the officers being honored visit John Walton Hockey.

Tickets to the game are $10 (children under 3 are free) and ALL proceeds benefit the children.

Hopefully everyone can get to the game...imagine 10,000 people showing up for PA officers vs NY City officers...that would be cool.

But if you can't be there consider donating anyhow....Additional donations can be mailed to the Derry Township Police Association, c/o Lt. Pat O'Rourke, 620 Clearwater Road, Hershey, PA 17033.
